Below, you will find the recommended durations for retaining different types of documents.
- Tax returns and supporting documents: 7 years.
- Banking documents and attorney fees: 5 years.
- Construction and renovation documents: 10 years.
- Various invoices: up to 10 years, depending on the type.
- Utility bills and electrical appliances: 2 years.
- Horeca invoices: 6 months.
- Documents related to housing (leases, mortgage loans): 5 years.
- Receipts for small amounts: 1 month.
- Pay slips: 10 years, recommended until retirement.
- Personal and family documents: a lifetime.
- Insurance documents: 10 years, except for civil liability insurance which should be kept for life.
